From ancient Greece to present day there have been influences of manipulation in society which have worked to condition thought and distract people from taking part as protagonists in their own lives.

This talk will examine the concept of social manipulation through the vision of Plato's Myth of the Cave and by using modern examples of spin which have come to define the 21st century.
